Discover the Future of Driving: Prof. Dr. Jemal H. Abawajy Unveils Smart Car Without Steering
Primary tabs
Technological advances have been proven to change various things in human life, even now cars can go their own way without human control because now it has enabled vehicles that move from one point to another without human interaction by applying some sensors to detect various things like other vehicles, users other roads, traffic lights, and other movements. Prof. Dr. Jemal Hussein conveyed it from the School of Info Technology Faculty of Science, Engineering and Built Environment, Deakin University as a guest lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering, Yogyakarta State University (23-25 / 10/2019).
On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Jemal Hussein Abawajy teaches in Automotive Engineering Education, Electrical Engineering Education, and Electronic and Information Engineering Education because it is related to his expertise in the Internet of Things and his latest research related to "Driverless Cars."
Technology in this car without a steering wheel uses a variety of technologies namely anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, adaptive roaming control, departure lane warning systems, self-parking systems, automatic guided vehicle systems, Lidar-Systems (in google cars) or Cruise Automated Systems ( Audi) as well as infrared cameras.
According to Prof. Dr. Jemal, several cars that have adopted the technology are Google, Tesla Model D, announced in 2014, Cadillac Super Cruise, which was launched in 2014 for the 2017 model, and Ford Traffic Jam Assist in 2012 allows the car to follow the flow of traffic automatically.
"This innovation is very important to be developed in Indonesia because this breakthrough is believed to be able to drastically reduce the level of car accidents due to the fact that the level of death due to road accidents here (Indonesia) is quite high," he concluded.
